Faculty at MSDA — Learn From Working Actors

MSDA faculty are working professionals who bring current industry experience to every class. Our instructors are not retired actors teaching theory from textbooks. They are actively booking roles in film and television while mentoring the next generation of performers. This means every lesson is grounded in the reality of what the industry demands right now, not what it looked like a decade ago.

The MSDA teaching approach is rooted in practical application. Every exercise, every scene assignment, and every piece of feedback is designed to build skills that translate directly to audition rooms and professional sets. Our faculty understand the difference between academic acting knowledge and the instincts that actually book roles, and they teach the latter.

Led by founder Marc John Jefferies, who has over 25 years of professional acting experience with credits in Spider-Man, Notorious, Luke Cage, She-Hulk, Law and Order SVU, Fallout, Blindspot, and Wu-Tang: An American Saga, the MSDA faculty provides the kind of insider knowledge and practical guidance that only comes from artists who are doing the work themselves every day.

Class sizes at MSDA are intentionally kept small to ensure every student receives individualized attention. This is not a lecture hall experience. Students perform, receive direct coaching, and develop their craft through hands-on work with faculty who know their strengths, their challenges, and their goals. The relationship between instructor and student at MSDA is a mentorship, not a broadcast.
